Mastering the Rave Dance Party

by Damon Davies

Ever been to a rave dance party and felt a little out of place? Sure, you've got your baggy pants, your hoody, your skater shoes, but something still doesn't feel right. You look around and everyone seems like they're having the time of their life - they're twirling around glow sticks and hopping around all over the place. You want to join in on the fun, but you're not sure how. The truth is many of these people feel just as nervous as you do. A small percentage of ravers are born with the natural ability to get down, but for the rest of us it takes time and dedication to become "sick" or "ill". Now, for the first time ever outside of Ibiza, comes the ultimate guide to Mastering the Rave Dance Party. Just learn these three dance moves and you will be so "ill"!

A. THE WHEELCHAIR

No one really knows the source of this rave dance move. Some people say it was invented by a legendary break-dancer who became paralyzed in a freak dancing incident, and needed to find a way to continue participating on the dance floor. All that is known for sure is that it is the latest dance craze sweeping the nation!

Step. 1. Walk onto the dance floor. Just remember, many of these ravers are just as nervous as you!

Step 2. Place your hands near your hips as if holding a suitcase on either side. Raise and bend one leg as if you are sitting down. (Note: don't raise and bend both legs, as this can result in you falling over!) Now it will look like you are sitting in a wheelchair.

Step. 3 Wheel your way to coolness!

B. WHO'S DA MAN?

Ever envy all the attention the DJ gets? Ever think there's NO WAY you will ever get that much attention? Well, now with this simple dance move you can!

Step 1.

Work your way through towards the front of the stage. It might seem difficult at first but just pretend you are meeting a friend there. Remember, if you bump into someone, a polite "excuse me" or "its all good" will smooth things over. You might even make a real friend this way!

Step B.

Now here comes the secret part. When you are near the front of the stage, TURN AROUND. All the people who were staring at the DJ will be staring at you! You are now the center of attention!

Step C.

Do the wheelchair!

C. INGESTING ECSTACY

Having mastered the basics, you are now ready to take your rave dance experience to the next level. This dance move is so cool they made it against the law!

Step. A.

Look for the coolest person you can find. Say "Do you know where I can get some "E"? It might take a while to find someone who is selling it, but stay with the program. Who knows, you might even make a real friend!

Step. B.

When you find some "E", its time to take your rave dance party to the bathroom. Lock yourself in a stall. People will think you are taking a piss, but secretly you are ingesting Ecstasy!

Step C.

Return to the dance floor. Within 30 - 45 minutes, everything will begin to look and feel different. You will feel your inhibitions slip away, and you will develop a new sense of confidence in your dancing. Don't feel confined to The Wheelchair all night long! A good way to quickly increase your dance move repertoire is to spot someone who looks really cool, and just do what he (or she) is doing. Remember, practice makes perfect, so repeat every weekend and you will be well on your way to Mastering the Rave Dance Party!
