I know this is unusual, but this week I thought I'd send you somewhere useful. In case you don't know, "spyware" or "scumware" is software that installs itself on your computer, frequently without your knowledge, and does any of a number of things like monitor your Web surfing in order to hit you up with targeted advertising or open up Web browser windows to point you at a particular Web page. They tend to install themselves along with file-sharing programs or other free software. They're a pretty aggressive abuse of your computer, not to mention a huge pain in the ass. Adaware is a free program that can tell you if any of this shit is installed on your machine and get rid of it for you.
