Eddie Campbell Comics

linked by Justin Anderson

I don’t throw the word "genius" around lightly, but I wouldn’t hesitate for one second to call Eddie Campbell one of the true geniuses in comics today. I, like most people, first heard of him as the illustrator of Alan Moore’s massive "From Hell" book, but later learned Campbell’s a writer/artist in his own right. His series of autobiographical "Alec" books, which trace his life from a 20-something gadabout to a middle-aged man with a wife and kids, changed the way I looked at comics, and are brilliant examples of an artist using the comics form to its fullest potential. His Web site is a good place to get an idea of what he’s about. Look around, maybe order a book or two. You can thank me later.
