In the English-speaking world, your two choices for print magazines about comics are the superhero-centric Wizard and the dense, intimidatingly intellectual Comics Journal. Thankfully, options on the internet are more in number and more varied in style. Savant magazine is by intelligent comic readers for intelligent comic readers and retailers, with the goal of improving what is, financially, a hurting business. While the crazed, kick-in-the-nuts attitude of its earlier days has faded a bit (usually credited to the exit of co-founder Matt Fraction), it’s still one of the best comic sites on the net with sharp insights and reviews.
